"Firm Hand" Needed to Guide State
“Firm Hand” Needed To Guide StateCharleston, WV – Joe Manchin has proven to be a true dichotomy - “West Virginia Joe” versus “Washington ‘Rubber Stamp’ Joe”.
“As Governor, West Virginia Joe promoted a moderate but clear record regarding government spending. As a U.S. Senator, Joe Manchin has supported raising taxes, Obamacare, Obama’s massive budget, and even skipped critical Senate votes,” said West Virginia Republican Chair Mike Stuart. “When Joe Manchin left for the U.S. Senate to fight for the Obama agenda, it created a leadership vacuum that has allowed the special interests and liberal Democrat Senate and House leaders to hit the jackpot with new massive spending proposals and no Governor to keep control.”
“Tomblin continues to struggle with inconsistent messages and policy proposals,” said Stuart. “Proposing a lieutenant Governor, uncertainty for a special election, using a bankrupt teacher’s retirement system to build a toll road, serious concerns about massive pay raise packages but willing to sign the bill with a small food tax reduction – Tomblin has not been a steady hand nor a hand that can control the spending appetite of the liberals. Earl Ray Tomblin is no Joe Manchin.”
"We need a Governor that is certain and strong," continued Stuart. "The special interests grip over liberal Democrat lawmakers is alarmingly strong. Pay raises for government workers and judges, fee increases, and other spending – the solid Democrat majorities and their leaders are eating at an endless buffet of spending.”
“Given the liberal nature of the Democrat candidates who are running for Governor and running state government today, it is crucial a Republican be elected Governor to return common sense and a steady hand to Charleston,” concluded Stuart. “We know how to cut a budget.”
