GAS & FOOD PRICES, UNEMPLOYMENT, STATE SPENDING SOARState GOP Head Says State Spending Out Of Control
Charleston, WV – While Congress is debating government shut-down and massive spending cuts, the Legislature in Charleston is not talking about a single dollar of spending cuts but, rather, only how many millions more can we spend. So far this Legislative session, no spending cuts have been discussed but the state budget has grown by hundreds of millions of dollars over the next ten years.
“State spending is out of control,” said West Virginia Republican Chair Mike Stuart. “Is Charlie Sheen running this mess?”
“Joe Manchin markets himself as a conservative despite supporting Obamacare, raising taxes, and skipping key Senate votes,” said Stuart. “Joe Manchin is no conservative be even he would never support the out of control spending happening in Charleston today in the Legislature. West Virginia is paying a very high price for his decision to create a leadership vacuum in state government.”
"Tomblin, Thompson and Kessler have proven they are fiscally irresponsible and tools of the special interest," continued Stuart. "It is time for our legislators to ‘put the credit card down and back away from the register.’ Unemployment is soaring and is above the national average. Gas prices are skyrocketing. Food prices are shocking the family budget. And Tomblin, Thompson, Kessler and their liberal friends are committing WV families to hundreds of millions in new government spending over the next ten years. It is time for a reality check.”
Stuart continued, “All across the state, families are cutting their budgets to put gas in their cars and food on the table. Families are making personal sacrifices to keep their lights on, their mortgage paid, and their kids in school. Families are trying to keep a job or get a job. Families are worried about their future. While families sacrifice, state government continues to grow and to spend our money – OUR MONEY.”
“State government needs to cut the state budget like families have cut their budget,” said Stuart. “Are they telling me that not a single dollar could be cut from the budget? Pay raises for government workers, judges, and others, fee increases, and other spending – the solid Democrat majorities and their leaders are out of control and out of touch with ordinary families.”
“All the voters need to do is look at the words of Democrat Chair Larry Puccio, They are delusional to believe that adding hundreds of millions of dollars to the state budget is a “responsible” thing to do. The liberal Democrats are controlled by the special interest and out of touch with working families,” concluded Stuart. “They will spend every dollar of the taxpayers they can get their hands on.”
